Having moved to South London for over a year now, I thought it was time to shine a spotlight on a little restaurant located not too far from my humble-abode in the Clapham area. Good Morning Vietnam is a discreet little establishment tucked away outside one of Europe’s busiest rail stations – Clapham Junction.

A Vietnamese and Chinese establishment, located outside Clapham Junction Station, providing tasty food, LARGE portions and at a reasonable price. Definitely worth a visit!

Starter

For Starters, we ordered the Prawn Crackers (£2.50) which didn’t come with any sauce at first, but upon request to the waiting staff, they provided us with Sweet Chilli Dip to accompany it. Prawn Crackers, in general, are always an easy favourite of mine, it provides a subtle taste with a good crunch! A great way to warm up the stomach, but sadly these crackers, in particular, were glistening with oil, which affected its texture (greasy) and taste (not so crunchy).
We also ordered the Vegetable Spring Rolls (£5.50), which comes as four-pieces, with each roll jampacked and exploding with vegetables. Dipping this into the Sweet Chilli sauce made for an excellent bite!

Mains

One of my favourite reasons for visiting this place is the generous portion sizes they offer at very reasonable price tag (given its location), coupled with the fact it also provides great tasting food, makes this Bargain-Food Hunter fiend, very, very happy!

I ordered the Roast Duck in Black Bean Sauce with Boiled Rice (£8.95). The duck meat was plenty (as expected) and was covered in tasty black bean sauce. The mix of meat, veg and rice was an excellent combination and definitely filled the massive void in my stomach. Luckily, I had an early lunch, so completing this plate wasn’t a difficult feat, but if you do find yourself struggling you are able to take the rest home with you in a takeaway box.

My partner ordered the Singapore Fried Noodles with Chicken, Pork, Shrimps and Seasame (£8.95), the response was also positive.

The restaurant is small in size, but they do well to fit in a lot of tables and chairs into this place, without it feeling too cramped. I have visited here many times and have never had to wait for a table, this is because, although the seating is slightly limited the service is extremely quick. It not uncommon to have your food delivered to you within a matter of minutes, which does raise some question marks on how fresh the food is. But, this is offset with the price you pay, the decent food quality and (in particular) quantity, making this great value for money.

The restaurant also offers a takeaway service and is very conveniently located directly opposite Clapham Junction Station, so if you are in need of a quick indulgence of Vietnamese or Chinese food, this is definitely a place to try!
