A dreary Sunday morning in Edinburgh probably is a common theme for the city. While my hometown of London is experiencing yet another heatwave in the middle of September; I am in cloudy, wet Scotland. This sombre realisation is overshadowed by the beauty of this majestic city. It was the day I had to leave for London and with only a handful of minutes to spare until my train departs from Haymarket Station; my friends met up for a quick brunch session at Loudon (not to be confused with London; which I kept calling it until being correct).

My choice of brunch was the Loudons Poached Eggs & Avocado. A spectacular dish of crushed Avocados and sautéed spinach on toasted homemade raisin soda bread topped with poached eggs, golden beetroot, radish and dill herb salad, pickled vegetables and herb oil (what a mouthful!)
You can tell that Loudon put some time and effort into this dish. As it was presented to me it honestly looked like a piece of art, an opinion shared with my friends. The colours of the various vegetables exuberated of the plate and the added touch of the golden beetroot scattered around the poached eggs is a finishing touch. Let’s kick off with the bread – WOW! Never have I been taken so aback by the taste of bread until I had Loudons Raisin Soda Bread. The fresh and spongy texture topped with a sweet kick from the raisins was an excellent combination and stole the show of this dish. The eggs were well poached offering tasty yolky flavours once pierced open, an excellent choice for anyone who visits here.
My overall brunch cost £10.95 and given the portion size provided, I find this really good value for money. Please Loudon bosses, come to LONDON NOW!!!
