During a cold autumn day just before lock down part two my partner and I decided it would be perfect weather to get a nice hot bowl of Pho. Oren Pho is the only restaurant I know of that currently sells Pho in Northmpton, after the closing down of Saigon (another Vietnamese restaurant in Northampton) so the choice was easy for us to make.We made our way towards the venue in search of a nice hot bowl of delicious Pho!

As we entered the restaurant we were met with a friendly greeting and shown to our seats quickly. It was a mid Saturday afternoon (approximately around 12:30) and it wasn’t too busy. The venue was very spacious and we were seated at a table by the window. On the way in I did notice that they also do a food challenge which would be interesting to try one day for £25 which contains a humongous bowl of Pho. That day I was not hungry enough to take on the challenge but it is definitely something I would be interested in in the future.
There was varied selection of drinks on the menu from Cocktails, to Coffees and Soft drinks. My mind was split, a part of me wanted a cocktail, another part of me wanted a coffee and the final part of me wanted a soft drink. My partner opted for the Vietnamese Coffee which I am a big fan of however I thought a colder drink will suit my Pho better. In the end the Homemade Strawberry Soda was the beverage that caught my eye the most. The soda was sweet, refreshing, and complimented my food well.
For starters my partner and I decided to share some summer rolls. I am a big fan of Summer Rolls as they taste fresh and feel like a healthier option than a Spring Roll. We decided on the Pork and Prawn Summer Roll. They provided two rolls of both the Pork and Prawn which makes it optimal for sharing between two people. The presentation was lovely and the sauce complimented the Summer Rolls perfectly.
For my main I had to go for the Pho, however if you are not a fan of Pho there are other choices available such as Stir Fry’s, Rice dishes and Noodle dishes. I opted for the Pho Da Biet as this selection of Pho is accompanied with all the different varieties of Beef. Pho is a tasty bowl of Noodle Soup served with Thick Flat Noodles and Fresh Herbs. The Pho I chose was served with Slow Cooked Beef Shin, Beef Balls and Lean Rare Beef. Another menu item also sparked my interest which was the Popcorn Chicken. It was described as a Lightly Battered Chicken coated in a Sweet and Spicy Caramel Sauce. We decided to order this as well and share it between the both of us. The Pho tasted great and definitely satisfied my Pho craving. The broth was tasty and there was just enough noodles to fulfill my appetite. I also thoroughly enjoyed the Popcorn Chicken, as a massive fan of Fried Chicken this was definitely a good shout. The Chicken was quite sweet and was a flavor combination I am not quite used too, but it definitely worked. Both dishes tasted good and I managed to finish it all!
Overall the experience was fabulous. The food tasted good and there was a good selection on the menu, so even if you are not a fan of Pho there is still something else on the menu for you to try. The Pho will definitely fulfill any Pho cravings you have and if ever in Northampton I recommend Oren Pho as a place to try. The venue is decently sized and the staff were pleasant. I will definitely be back one day to try the food challenge!
