There was one dessert stall which I and my friends tried during the Street Eats Festival in 2018 called Darlish. They served Persian ice cream with middle eastern flavours such as Tahini, cardamom and saffron. So when I heard they were having a new parlour open up in Covent Garden, I had to go visit and give it a try!

Located within the main road of connecting Covent Garden and Leicester Square, Darlish is very hard to miss. This parlour was small offering seating for six people, however, there was a lot of people on-site queuing to try this amazement.
Ranging from different ethnic flavours, I chose to go different and order their Darlish Special…. The Baklava Ice Cream Sandwich.
Provided in a logo branded cup was a large piece of Baklava with vanilla gelato stuffed in between. Laid on its side, the dessert was quite difficult to eat with a plastic spoon. That’s because of the baklava being slightly hard to break evenly with some vanilla ice cream. Also, as it’s on its side, it’s hard to scoop up with a tiny plastic spoon.
Even though this caused a problem, the taste was enough to make you forget your struggles of trying to eat this. Baklava with ice cream has always been a favourite dessert of mine regardless of where it is from, but Darlish’s Baklava tasted excellent.
If travelling around Covent Garden and are in the need to try something more middle eastern, Darlish will be a great choice to pop by.
