During a week break to Cornwall just before the Covid Pandemic we were visiting the small town of Fowey. Fowey doesn’t have too many choices to dine at, but during our hunt for something to eat we came across this Grill by the waterfront, we briefly browsed the menu and came across some interesting choices so we decided this was the place to dine!

Upon entering we were greeted with friendly faces and escorted to our seats promptly. It was a quiet weekday evening so the venue wasn’t busy at all so we got a choice of our seats. There also seemed to be outdoor seating overlooking the waterfront but unfortunately it was dark when we visited otherwise the view would have been great! I decided to just order Tap Water for a drink however they had a choice of soft drinks and alcoholic beverages available. My partner decided to order a Coke.
We both decided to order a starter each and share them between us as we practically wanted to order every starter on the menu :P. We ordered the Halloumi Fries and the Crispy Black Pudding. The Black Pudding came with a Poached Free-Range Egg and Bernaise Sauce, whilst the Halloumi Fries were served with a Thai Sweet Chilli Sauce. As we are usually big eaters, the portion size was quite small for our liking but the tastiness of the food was there. The Crispy take on the Black Pudding was tasty and it went well with the egg and the sauce. The Halloumi Fries were great too, and the sauce was delicious; a perfect combo for a starter!
For the mains I decided to go for the Herb Crust Cod Loin. The meal was served with a Lemon & Crayfish Risotto and a Fennel Bhaji, the idea of a Fennel Bhaji intrigued me as I have never had it before so that helped sway my decision! My partner chose the Sea Bass Fillets which were served with Saffron Potatoes, Shellfish Sauce and Cavlo Nero. The other choices of mains included Tribute Battered Market Fish & Chips, Sticky Beef Salad, Butternut Squash Risotto and a Thai Green Curry. The menu wasn’t massive but definitely a decent variety of food to choose from. The food was tasty, I enjoyed the crisp of the Fennel Bhaji and the Risotto complimented the fish superbly. My partner also enjoyed her main too.
Overall the experience was a good one. The food was tasty and the service was pleasant. The aesthetic of the place was nice and it would be good to visit during the day time to see the view! The menu wasn’t expansive but there was still enough variety to choose from however the food was a little on the pricey side. I still recommend this place if you are visiting the area as the food was good!
